The Golden View opens before us like a map, though this isn't always the case. Everything depends on the weather. In the sun, we admire Szrenica, towering over Szklarska Poręba, and a little further on, Śnieżne Kotły, where snow can linger even until August.
In the fog and solitude, the dark landscape of the Giant Mountains unfolds before us, jealously guarding the treasures hidden within. Centuries ago, greedy prospectors tried to snatch them away. Their greed met the wrath of Rubenczal – the Spirit of the Mountains, who hurled lightning bolts at them. It's said that to this day, in some parts of the Karkonosze and Jizera Mountains, their bones still turn white.
In spring, the lush green of the trees blends with the snowy whiteness that lingers on the mountain peaks and in the glacial cirques. Autumn is also beautiful. The beech leaves, covered in rust and gold, make it impossible to look away. It's no wonder that one of the greatest painters of the Young Poland movement, Wlastimil Hofmann, spent time here seeking inspiration.
It's also beautiful on warm summer nights under a full moon. In the distance, you can hear the hooting of owls and the murmur of the Kamienna River. Forests at night hold many secrets, and creatures invisible to the human eye appear there. They are neither good nor evil, so they shouldn't be judged. They are like wild seeds.
Golden View is one of the most frequently visited places in Szklarska Poręba.
