Can the Karkonosze Mountain Spirit have a grave if he's a ghost? It turns out he does. Legend has it that he left the Karkonosze Mountains out of grief and because of people who failed to respect the nature around them. They stripped the mountains of their most precious treasures – precious minerals, ancient trees, frightened wildlife, made noise, and sang silly songs.

Nature, however, can regenerate itself without human help. The inhabitants of the Karkonosze Mountains and the surrounding area still believe that the Karkonosze Rubenczal, also known as the Mountain Spirit, despite hiding in his mountain castle, deep inside Śnieżka, still makes his presence felt from time to time. One just needs to know how to look and listen, which is sometimes not so easy, as humans, increasingly less sensitive to nature, lose sight of what's important.

Fortunately, there are those who will find it in the rocks, in old beeches, spruces, and firs, in glacial cirques, in fog, and above precipices. All you need to do is observe nature carefully. Who knows? Perhaps you will spot the Spirit of the Mountains not only in the Karkonosze Mountains, but perhaps in your own hearts.
Today, this memorial stone you are standing before reminds us of the former ruler of the Karkonosze Mountains and reminds us that nothing lasts forever. It's up to us to shape the world around us, whether we are in the mountains or in the places where we live.
There is nothing more beautiful than living in harmony with nature.
