13th Summer Piast Race in Szklarska Poręba-Jakuszyce

A wonderful atmosphere and favorable weather accompanied the nearly 1,700 participants of the 13th Summer Piast Run, competing on the beautiful routes in the Jizera Mountains. The weekend's hero was 26-year-old Klaudia Petters, who won two races: the 50 km and the 12 km. In the first, she was faster not only than the women but also than all the men.

The 26-year-old from Bolesławiec managed her energy perfectly and crossed the finish line after less than four hours of running. The fastest man, the brilliant Dominik Komendacki, finished almost five minutes later. Over 2500 runners completed the 50 km race, also known as the Jakuszycki Ultramarathon.

Klaudia Petters won the 50 km race on Saturday and finished with 12 on Sunday. She was the fastest woman, beating renowned rivals Katarzyna Ślusarczyk and Elżbieta Kowalewska. In the men's 12km race, 20-year-old Antoni Harenda, a talented runner from Lubusz Voivodeship, showed off his class, finishing ahead of Tomasz Kozłowicz by a minute.

The Jakuszycki Half Marathon was won by the favorites from the Karkonosze Mountains: Jacek Sobas and Emilia Romanowicz.

The recreational 12km Nordic Walking March (no prizes for the fastest finishers) and the children's events: the Preschooler's Run and the Cub Scouts' Summer Expedition (for students in grades 1-6 of primary school) were very popular. There was plenty of fun at the children's races!

The 13th Piast Summer Run featured a rich program: partner zones with various attractions for people of all ages, an expo featuring high-quality sports equipment, the "Czujka na Straży Ciebie Ciebie" (Sensor Guarding Your Safety) firefighting campaign, and two charity events: for Nikola from Świeradów-Zdrój and "I Run for a Healthy Head" by the PKO Bank Polski Foundation for the Youth Sociotherapy Center No. 2 in Wrocław. The start and finish line for the race was the Polana Jakuszycka Lower Silesian Sports Center in Szklarska Poręba.

People of all ages and at various levels of running experience participated in the 13th Summer Piast Run. Among them were veterans who had been running in Szklarska Poręba-Jakuszyce for several decades, such as Wiesław Dul, Ewa Szmel, and Stanisław Grabowski. Numerous newcomers, visiting Jakuszyce for the first time, also took part. The renowned writer Wojciech Chmielarz ran in the half marathon for the second time, while multiple European Championship medalist Sofia Ennaoui and legendary 400-meter runner Robert Maćkowiak were among the spectators. Interest in the race was very high. Only the Jakuszyce Ultramarathon filled the entry limit.

The 13th Summer Piast Run is organized by a group of enthusiasts from the Piast Run Association, with the support of sponsors, partners, volunteers, and the local community.
