Świeradów Zdrój, picturesquely situated in the Jizera Mountains, at the edge of the Western Sudetes, in the Kwisa River valley, is an interesting destination for a one-day trip from Szklarska Poręba
The healing properties of the local springs have been known since the 16th century. In 1572, they were first mentioned by the Berlin doctor Leonard Thurneysser, and described in more detail by Kasper Schwenckfeldt, a naturalist and physicist from Jelenia Góra. The first health resort was established in 1768. A probation book has been kept since 1770.
Patrons have been coming to this picturesquely located health resort for over 250 years. Today, rheumatic diseases, diseases of the musculoskeletal system, circulatory system and gynecological diseases are treated here.
Among the objects worth seeing are the beautiful, historic Walking Hall in the Spa House. In the autumn, in October, the "Świeradów Meetings with Early Music" are held here - a festival of musical groups playing medieval court and church music.
It is also worth coming to Świeradów in spring for the "Blossoming Rhododendron Festival". These shrubs feel exceptionally well in the local climate and bloom with many colors, delighting guests and visitors.
There is a real tourist attraction in the health resort - an 8-seater gondola lift, which can take you to the peak of Izerski Stog (1,107 m above sea level) both in winter and summer.
The railway can transport 2,400 people per hour. In addition to serving skiers and tourists, it is also adapted to transport disabled people and cyclists.
The construction of the gondola lift in Świeradów Zdrój began in March 2007. The lift opened in December 2008.
The railway operates all year round, serving both skiers in the winter and hikers and lovers of mountain bike trails in the summer.
The length of the railway route is 2,172 m, with the altitude of the lower station being 617 m above sea level. and the upper station 1060 m above sea level and a level difference of 443m.
The ski run is 2,500 m long, 40 m wide and has varying levels of difficulty, it is snowed by 20 cannons in the winter season and illuminated (night skiing from 6 to 9 p.m.). The average slope of the route is 19%. The train journey time is 8 minutes.
At the lower station there is a catering service (Smak Baca), an ATM, a ski school, a ski service and a rental of skis, snowboards with equipment and summer sports and recreation equipment.
